Finally a start date.

It has been almost 2 weeks since our builder received our construction certificate. We were hoping that something would have happened on the block already but apart from a new construction sign and a mound of rocks for a mock driveway, we really did not see any action. Visiting the site almost daily and hoping for some work was starting to be really disappointing.

On the bright side I heard from our SS Scott on Friday and he informed me that we were scheduled to have the block cut on Tuesday (It is relatively flat block so not a great deal of work is involved) and then the peiring should happen Wednesday. If all goes well the Slab should be complete by next Friday, which is in 2 weeks time. WOO HOO! after sitting there, completely untouched for almost 9 months, there will be some concrete evidence that my life will someday return to normal.

So here we go 26 weeks and counting (although my faith in this time frame is very limited) Let the Building Begin!!!!!

All approved for more waiting.

We had an exciting email yesterday. Builders have received our construction certificate from the certifiers, so we are good to start with the build. This exciting news was followed with, we will contact you shortly to advise you of the start date. Argh!!! more waiting. I have no idea when shortly will be or how long it will take for building to actually start but at least it is a step in the right direction.

I know this is the process and nothing out of the ordinary but we are just so keen to start seeing some movement on the block, especially now that the block next to ours started work last week and seems to be travelling at lightning pace.

Anyways here are some picture of our house to be:

Front of the house + Internal plans
Austral, Whitsunday - Carlisle Bricks.
Colorbond - Surfmist, Roof, gutters, fascia & garage door

Caesarstone - Snow bench top with waterfall edges + Polytec Classic White Sheen Kitchen Cabinets + Hume Savoy 1200 entry door

Gainsborough Omni Series Tri Lock door handle

Fingers crossed we can get started by at least mid next week.

Let the Blogging begin!

Our story began about 8 months ago when my husband and I made the decision to sell our house and buy a new one closer to the beach. For some strange reason our Real Estate agent suggested we could build and that was it. A Week later our house was sold and we had put a deposit on our small little patch of paradise.

So far it has been a bit of a slow process. After a few false alarms choosing a project home with one of the many builders out there, we finally settled on a smaller, new company called One Three Designer Homes. We had a design drawn up for us. Submitted our plans to council, got them back all approved, handed over some cash and we are now at the point of waiting for our construction certificate.

This is where our Blog begins. Hopefully days away from getting the final approval to start work on our big patch of grass.
